As a young woman, Dr. Kikam experienced firsthand the frustrations and challenges with access to information and dermatologic care as a woman of color. A firm believer that skin health forms a huge part of our identity and self-worth, Dr. Kikam launched her social media platform, Brown Skin Derm™ and clinic, Skinclusive Dermatology™ to bridge the gap in information and dermatologic care for marginalized communities who feel unseen, unheard, and left out of the skincare world. Named by Glamour as one of the best dermatologists on Instagram and featured in Vogue and The New York Times, she consciously uses her influence to advocate for the dermatologic health needs of people of color. As part of this effort, she lends her expertise and passion for improved representation of people of color in the larger discussion among her peers and brands on skincare, ranging from medical accuracy and accessibility to product formulation and customer engagement.
